This kit allows standalone engine management to be used on a Jaguar XK engine. Most aftermarket ECU’s will recognise the standard 60-2 tooth pattern.
This kit will bolt directly onto most 4.2L/3.8L Jaguar XK engines

The ATI Super Damper is far superior to the items Jaguar designed in the 60’s for these engines. With advances in technology the harmonic vibrations generated within an engine are now more understood and can therefore be minimised by these dampers.
The harmonic damper is an essential part required for producing a smooth well balanced engine – one damper does not fit all!
ATI products have developed their dampers on engine dynos to match each particular application.
- The ATI damper is used extensively in Historic racing.
Whenever we spec an XK engine build we always use these dampers because from experience we know how good they are.
- The outer shell of the damper is anodised aluminium.
- It features degree marks around the entire circumference of the shell making cam & ignition timing more straight forward
- The damper hub is blackened steel and is a close tolerance fit onto the nose of the crankshaft
The hub allows you to use the existing crankshaft centre bolt
- The pulley is machined from 6082 Aluminium.
It is black anodised for corrosion protection.
- All bolts required to fit the damper and pulley to the hub are included.
The 3 pulley bolts are 3/8 UNC with a 12 point head (normal 3/8″ socket).
The countersunk bolts that secure the damper to the hub are 5/16 UNC and require a T40 Torx Plus bit which is supplied with the kit
- The 60-2 trigger wheel is mounted to the back of the ATI damper and is a lightweight design with a yellow passivate finish for corrosion protection.
- The anodised aluminium sensor bracket incorporates an adjustable stainless steel timing marker for precise ignition timing alignment.
This bracket bolts directly to the timing chain cover of the XK engine with stainless steel bolts and lock washers provided.
- The high quality crankshaft position sensor is manufactured by TT electronics for automotive use.
It is an inductive two wire sensor (please observe sensor polarity – see additional diagram).
This sensor is used on various Audi’s which is why we use this sensor for all our fuel injection systems.
- The connector is a Junior Power Timer (JPT) female 2 way.
Why a whole damper and trigger assembly not just a bolt on trigger wheel?
We have seen lots of different methods for attaching a crank trigger and sensor to an XK engine – some better than others.
In all of the engines we have seen the standard Jaguar harmonic damper has been well past its use by date! The bonded rubber is almost always perished if it is the original.
Bolting a trigger wheel to the front face of the harmonic damper is easy but then making a suitably rigid crank sensor mount isn’t. The sensor mount must be rigid enough to maintain a close air gap to the trigger wheel or at high load/rpm the signal will start to be lost and the engine will misfire. It’s one of the most common problems we see in fuel injection installs.
The standard Jaguar harmonic damper is a compromise between cost saving and performance – it’s not great! The ATi units are used extensively in motorsport on these and other high performance engines – if you’re going to change something fit the best you can!
These dampers are serviceable unlike the originals – dampers should be checked every 10 years.
Why would you fit a cheap damper on an expensive rebuilt engine?
This assembly does not required balancing and will not affect the balance of your engine
